new drop spindle

I’m not talking about the Irish weather. I dyed two skeins of aran worsted yarn over a week ago, however, they were not drying with all the rain and damp weather we’ve had.

Now, finally dry and made into a yarn cake, just waiting to be knitted…

On Monday morning, the non-knitters of Dublin shook their heads in disbelief and repeatedly asked, “You went to London over the weekend, to attend a knitting convention?”.

Yep, and I had a great time…I went to I Knit Day 2008 in London to see the YarnHarlot.

I stood in the queue (yes it rained in London as well)…

The MarketPlace was soooo tempting….fiber everywhere!!!

It was a great place to meet up with other knitters from Ravelry. I found fellow Irish Knitter, WonderWanda (Ravelry link). It was great to match the face to the Ravelry avatar.

Also,Tea and Cakes and I joined up with her mum for lunch, then went to see and hear Stephanie talk. If I could only articulate as well as she could…validating a knitters’ life to a non-knitter.

live wire…

I have been adding wire and beads to my knitting stash…

to knit this:

It was quite an accomplishment for me to start knitting a shawl at the start of the Beijing 2008 Olympics and to actually finish it before the Closing Ceremonies this past Sunday.

So what do I do now?  I need a quick knitting fix. So I turned to the August issue of Let’s Knit and found a very simple and brainless pattern.

Knitting this shawl with 15 mm needles is proving to be quite the challenge. These jumbo sized needles are awkward to hold when one is used to knitting socks with 2.0 mm dpns!

Olympic Clap wrap

With the Beijing Olympics 2008 Closing Ceremonies fast approaching, my Olympic Clap wrap and I will be crossing the finish line very soon…

I’m at the midway point of this Olympic Clap Wrap…

Am I a leader or a follower?

I am definitely a follower since a few of my knitting friends are crocheting. Not wanting to be left behind in the dust, I decided to sign up for a Learn to Crochet class at This is Knit.

If Ger, Mary, and Sara can crochet, then so can I…

Last Saturday was the big day…

It is taking me a while to learn the new language: single crochet, double crochet, treble…

and this was not easy…

I think I’ll stick with knitting, my fingers won’t hurt so much.
