		<description>I&#039;d always considered it as an amalgam of a hood and something snuggly - a snug hood. Usually they were a step-up from a cowl in that you could pull it up over your head.</description>

		<description>It&#039;s a hood.  You know those things that hang down the back of the graduation outfit, for Master&#039;s graduates?  It&#039;s a hood, which has a bit of a long tail, and kinda incorporates a scarf.

OED says, though: A fillet, band, or ribbon, for confining the hair; latterly, in Scotland (and the north of England), the distinctive hair-band worn by young unmarried women. More recently, a fashionable bag-like or closed woman&#039;s hairnet, usu. worn at the back of the head.</description>

		<description>Interesting sign.  I didn&#039;t need a doctor today but I did need a ball of a particular yarn so I went to this shop.  Alas, she didn&#039;t stock it.  She thought she might get that brand but I didn&#039;t have the label with me so I couldn&#039;t give her the exact name.  I was in a hurry so I didn&#039;t linger.</description>
